influenster Bella Voxbox May 2015 products review

Give a Texan lady makeup, wine and chocolate and you give her…well, even more makeup, wine and chocolate and she’ll be darned happy about it, too

I know I live in NEW YORK CITY. Yes. I’ve had this conversation with many a Texan and non-Texan and everyone agrees: once a Texan, always a Texan. It’s just the way it is. But New Yorker or Texan and getting free products to try and review is a yes, please!

I signed up for influenster and then entered my social media accounts, my blog, my youtube account, etc and hoped I’d be picked to review this box. It’s my first one, and I love it. They send out free products in exchange for a promise to review and post and blog about it. If you don’t, you probably won’t get another box. I got one, so here we go!

Ecotools Mattifying Finish Brush

These brushes are super soft and sturdy with bamboo and recycled aluminum handles. I decided to keep it as my touchup makeup at my desk brush because it’s super soft and leaves a nice finish when you buff out your face. I also received a coupon for $1 off of another brush. I love that they are more environmentally friendly but feel very professional.

Dove Fruit

I don’t usually buy many sweets, but these are really nice! I got dried whole blueberries dipped in chocolate…and let me tell you they are delicious. Juicy flavor, and they taste like dipped fruit, not something made up in a lab. Well, did. I ate a few, and delivered them to the news desk at work and they were gone in minutes. They also offer cranberries and cherries, and it’s well worth a taste.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Mascara by Kate Moss

This is the product out of the box I’ve been using daily. The mascara is great! It’s very dark, adds volume, which I love, and seems to add some length, too. The brush is wave-shaped and it’s great for curling and getting those long lashes at the corners all at the same time. I’ve been using it for work, and it’s a gorgeous, dramatic mascara. If I run out of the mascaras from sub boxes, I’ll probably buy this one because the price…I like.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss

This lipstick is creamy, full-coverage, smells nice and although thick, doesn’t feel cakey. What’s pretty awesome is that it does last through the work morning for me, with maybe one touch-up if I eat something with some oil on it. Outside of that…the color sticks with you. I got color #14, which is very nude/neutral and isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I am not a fan of the nude lip. (Hear that collective gasp?)  I usually add a few lipsticks to my lips to create illusion of plumpness, but this picture is only the lipstick.

Not Your Mother’s Deja Vu Do Style Extender

This product is a pre-style product that is supposed to extend your style by repelling dirt, oil, humidity, etc. I tried it once and it seemed to help a little. It smells great, too, although that can only go so many days, lol! My problem using it comes from following a mostly curly girl method of hair care, so I avoid shampoos, which means avoiding silicones that aren’t water-soluble. I’ll pass this one onto a friend, but I think it does help with that one extra day.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs

This is a very light coverage leg makeup that is best for just smoothing your color out a bit and maybe darkening a bit. I got the medium shade and I found it too dark and orange for my skin tone. Since I have a few spider veins from working in food service/bar service/younameit all those years, I keep hoping there will be something to cover that up, but this isn’t very full coverage unless you  maybe really layer it on. I couldn’t, because it was also a few shades darker than my current skin tone. I recommend this when you’re trying to soften up odd tan lines or smooth out bumpy skin.

Club W

I’m a happy member and love this club. The offer they sent was to get 1 free bottle when you bought 2. It’s a good deal! I’ll pass this along, too, since it’s only for new members. (awwww) They curate independent wineries with interesting and gorgeous wines at the lower price range. I LOVE this service, and suggest you clicky clicky up there so I get some points, too.

Ebay invite

This is an invitation to get a $25 gift card on ebay by writing a couple of guides. I may do this because I do buy makeup and other things on Ebay fairly regularly. No, not used makeup. Temptu, mostly, although I’m just going to get a pro account for the discount through them.

I enjoyed this box, and it’s such a good range of products, that I hope they pick me to do this, again!

Much Love,

Influenster Bella VOXBOX May 2015 unboxing

influenster Bella VOXBOX is a free subscription beauty box. You have to put in your social media information, blogs, etc and if they think you’ll do the review and like what you do, then you get a bunch of full-sized products for free!

Since my iphone5 is dyyyying (DYING like all of my iphones have) I had a hard time pulling this video out of it because my video camera is old and decrepit and forget taping anything on it. Plus, my new apartment room has (wait for it…)

Florescent lighting. Oh, the humanity! So, anything I need to photograph or video I must do either outside or at the dressing room makeup light at work.

Meanwhile, I LOVE this box. Makeup, chocolate, wine? Whaaaat?

I hope I didn’t make you queasy with that camera swoop. Ah, phone videos!

Product reviews are coming up very shortly!

And because this is important:
