Thredup consignment clothing…frugal and stylish

Most on-air journalists and other reporters don’t make a lot of money, especially at the start of their careers.

We still have to dress nicely, do our hair, have good makeup, and keep our appearance to standards. Thankfully, I’m not too proud to buy consignment clothes. I’m still sick in this video so I’m in full-on stuck-at-home mode. I tend to look a little better than that at work.

Use my link below to get $20 credit to sign up, then wait to get a 20-40% coupon code in the  mail on your first order. $66 for 6 dresses and 1 blouse is nothing to sneeze at!

Go for the eyes!

A fast-forward video of doing my eyes in the morning. This is not perfect.

Keep in mind this is 4am, and I’m usually in a big hurry. I do not look rested, and concealer does only so much!

Much Love,

Video: Doing my makeup for TV in the morning (very. early. morning.)

Organization keeps makeup clean and easy to find and purge.

Organization keeps makeup clean and easy to find and purge.

First of all, I’m not a morning person.

Well…I’m not an early morning person. I wake up happily around 7 or 8 and get on with my day. 2:15am isn’t my idea of enough sleep. I see it’s taken it’s toll in the last few years, and I should change my hours before I start looking even older.

This is how I cover up the ravages of 4 hours of sleep a night:

Here’s a list of the products I used:

Mirabella Face and Eye Primer

Boo Boo Cover Up in medium

MICA eye primer

Temptu Invisible Difference Finishing Powder in Light

Temptu S/B Airbrush makeup in Sand 004 and Toffee 006

Julep Glow pore minimizing blush in Peach Bellini

Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette

Sadly, I don’t believe the Kat Von D ladybird palette is available but I used Fur Elise

e.l.f. Professional Studio Cream Eyeliner in Black

Julep Kajal eye glider in black

Rimmel by Kate Idol Eyes in Eye Rock Jet Black

Inika Certified Organic Brow Pencil in Brunette Beauty

Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Sailor and Starshine

Beauty For Real The Perfect Pencil

MAC Luster Lipstick in Plumful

I hope you can deal with the long video, but it takes me about 20-30 minutes to do my makeup for work, and when I’m explaining, it takes longer.

Enjoy your holiday!

Much Love,

MAC (mostly) look of the day plus a cheap tip

When you have that eyeshadow palette in your makeup kit that gets no love…trade it!

6-15-15My co-worker Lorin and I occasionally trade off makeup. For instance, I had a big nudes/neutrals palette that I couldn’t make work on my complexion no matter what. They were lighter, ashier colors that just didn’t work. I took it out of my case and gave it to her, and she in turn gave me a quad of MAC eyeshadow far too intense for her coloring, plus a single dark purple shadow. Hey! We both win! She loves her palette, I love my new colors, so I thought I’d share my face and look today.

MAC 6-15-15

I have no idea what the eyeshadow colors are, since its a make-your-own quad, but I love them! The shimmer barely shows, and they’re very highly pigmented. The browbone and inner eye color is Strawberry Blonde by Coastal Scents, the blush is Julep Glow Pore Minimizing Blush in Peach Bellini, the mascara is Rimmel by Kate. Foundation is Temptu S/B 4 and 6 with their setting powder, and the lipstick…

Free MAC lipstick! Plumful

I love this cheap tip: MAC cosmetics want you to return empty makeup containers to recycle, so they will give you a free lipstick with the return of 6 empties to one of their stores.

Free. MAC. Lipstick.

Yep. The sweet guy at the Upper West Side store on Columbus Ave picked Plumful out and it’s a perfect every day look for me. Love it! Eco conscious beauty is gorgeous.

Much Love,
